Course Overview
BAMS or Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery is a 5-year UG medical course. The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) is the responsible body for the admission and practice of Ayurvedic medicine in India. BAMS Admission takes place through NEET, registrations for which have started on February 9th, 2024.
BAMS Course Eligibility requires students to have passed class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a min. of 50-60% aggregate. Note that passing NEET is mandatory for BAMS Admissions. Some of the top BAMS colleges include BHU, Dr D Y Patil Navi Mumbai, and GGSIPU Delhi. The average BAMS Course Fee ranges between INR 20,000 – INR 3,00,000.
BAMS Syllabus is divided into 4 professionals over the course of 5 years and 6 months. Padartha Vigyan, Ayurved Itihas, Dravyaguna Vigyan, and Maulik Siddhant Avum Ashtang Hridaya are some of the BAMS Subjects. Students can become doctors after successfully completing the BAMS Course. BAMS Average Salary ranges between INR 4,00,000 to INR 6,00,000 varying with experience and expertise.

BAMS Admission Process
- National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the basis for the selection of students for the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.
- In India, NEET is compulsory for admission into many medical courses including Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery and MBBS.
- The centralized NEET counseling is held after the NEET exam for the admission of the NEET qualified students in the various courses of medical science according to their performance in the Entrance exam i.e. NEET.
- Interviews are also done by various colleges for giving admission to students in Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.
Eligibility
The minimum NEET Eligibility Criteria for applying to the BAMS course are as follows:
- Candidates need to have a minimum of 50%-60% in their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- The minimum required score in the 10+2 may vary according to the top BAMS Colleges present in India.
- Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subjects in the 12th board examinations.
- The upper age limit for the candidates appearing for the NEET exam from the general category is 20 years. While a relaxation of 4 years is given to the reserved categories.
- Candidates must prepare in accordance with NEET Syllabus in order to qualify for the exam.
